10 Ways to Balance Motherhood and Entrepreneurship Without Losing Yourself
Hello lovely busy moms, I’m Timeasha Bailey, your new busy mom bestie! Welcome to the busy mom community. We are so glad to have you! Today we are talking, balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship without losing yourself. As someone that has experienced this myself I realize how important balancing the two is.
A little about me, I am a mother of an eight-year old and three-year old. My main business is photography based in Murphy, NC. This year I branched out to crafts and digital art + prints!
Set rhythms NOT rigid schedules!
This makes days flow by for me of course there is no perfect day, but it's a lot easier to have a plan than a strict schedule. There is so much more stress and guilt that comes from trying to do this at 8am or that at 10am. Look at the day as a wave brace yourself for it and ride it out!
Non-negotiable ME TIME!
One of the most important things and one of the hardest for me thanks to mom-guilt. It’s important to take some time for yourself to stay grounded in who you are. For me that’s playing guitar, sketching, or going on a walk.
Include your littles in your world!
They appreciate it and you will feel less guilt and more productive! My littles love to create with me, we paint together and sometimes my daughter tags along during a photoshoot to shoot behind-the-scenes for me.
Delegate like a CEO NOT like you’re failing!
There are many ways to ease the burden of mom-life whether you order grocery pick-up/delivery. Maybe you outsource your work, or hire help in certain areas!
Keep a personal identity outside of both!
Join a book club or visit your favorite coffee shop. I love Rarebird here in Murphy! There is a writing group I am thinking about joining, I’ll keep y’all posted in later blogs!
Redefine success for yourself!
While I would love to have a six figure business I don’t know if I am willing to sacrifice certain things. I love being a stay at home mom and don’t want to be out of the house full time until my littles are a little older. So, success to me is living comfortably and working minimally outside of the house.
Build supportive circles!
Like this blog and my other platforms I am creating circles. The feeling of having others to lean on is so great and sometimes it doesn’t come easy. It’s important to walk away from toxic spaces even if they are family spaces. Being a mom and/or entrepreneur is not easy and having people around who don’t take you seriously or respect you is even harder.
Set boundaries around work and family time!
When you’re working be all in, with your kids be fully present! Mentally switch and physically switch off the computer, iPad, or phone.
Celebrate small wins in both roles!
Booked a client? Got your little down for a nap? Both are wins that deserve to be celebrated! Like the rest of us you are doing your best and that’s all you can do.
Keep your “WHY” visible!
Write down what drives you to be a successful mom and entrepreneur. Keep it visible so you see it and use it as daily motivation!
Before you go here’s a reminder that you are not alone in your journey! Even though we all have a different path to walk down we are all here together and should support one another. If you can pick one or two steps this week that is progress! GIVE YOURSELF GRACE.
