Quick Self Care Rituals For Moms Who Don’t Have Time
Hello lovely busy moms, I’m Timeasha Bailey, your new busy mom bestie! Welcome to the busy mom community. We are so glad to have you! Today we are talking, quick self care rituals for moms who don’t have time.
A little about me, I am a mother of an eight-year old and three-year old. My main business is photography based in Murphy, NC. This year I branched out to crafts and digital art + prints!
Start Small!
Most days in the Bailey household start hectic. Seven AM means chocolate milk and loud music on Alexa. Relaxation seems like a luxury most weeks. So, I like to take a couple minutes a day to journal or stretch. This is the perfect chance to do something you enjoy, your mental health will thank you in the long run. It doesn’t have to mean shutting out your littles, it can mean planning a daily activity you all enjoy.
Prep the night before!
This ritual is one my future self thanks my past self for every time! Lay out those clothes, tidy the kitchen, this can prevent you from feeling behind. This is more of a Sunday ritual but I always (try) to make sure the kitchen is clean, and the laundry is started or halfway done by Monday. That way I don’t have the pressure of breakfast, homeschool, and cleaning.
Focus on energy not perfection!
Starting the morning with the right mood is so important! This ritual should involve something that makes you feel alive in the morning. Some examples for me are listening to music, showering, or going outside for 5-10 minutes. Remember to breathe and know you're doing great!
Involve the kids!
Create a joint mini routine, this one is fun and easy! Blast your favorite tunes and dance around the living room or go outside and play your favorite game. We have corn hole boards, so when we are giving Alexa a much needed break we are tossing bean bags.
Simplify Breakfast!
Prep overnight oats, freezer waffles, or smoothie bags. I try to cook big breakfasts on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. I like to simplify the rest of the week with cinnamon bread, cereal, cinnamon toast sticks, or whatever is easy to make. I am considering making our bread and bagels which the kids can help with so it adds to number 4!
Habit stack!
If you’re a coffee lover you could write 3 daily affirmations everyday. Adding a small routine to habits you already do make you much more likely to keep repeating them! It doesn’t have to start big but will eventually grow into something you do daily with no hesitation. Instead of saying “I’ll meditate for 30 minutes after brushing my teeth” start with “I’ll take 3 deep breaths after brushing my teeth.”
Prioritize the first 10 Minutes
This will look different for different people. For me this looks like sitting in the bathroom or as I mentioned before going outside and walking around or sitting in my rocking chair. It just helps my nerves so much to take a moment and think/speak positive or brainstorm.
Ditch the guilt!
Way easier said than done but we have to understand that we are people too. We aren’t perfect and we’re doing our best. I’ll speak for myself here but I like alone time and I like to go out and do things for myself. I will go crazy just going to the grocery store, practice, or games. I know for some its hard to go out but even if it's just to walk at the park for an hour its worth it. If we as mothers don’t prioritize ourselves how can we properly pour into our littles, ya know?
Before you go here’s a reminder that you are not alone in your journey! Even though we all have a different path to walk down we are all here together and should support one another. If you can pick one or two steps this week that is progress! GIVE YOURSELF GRACE.
